71071 2002-08-14 11:20:00 Hi,does anyone know what happens to existing emails if the place they are stored in is changed?Thought I might save them in My Documents, which I back up regularly.Any comments please. Neil McC (178)
71072 2002-08-14 12:06:00 Good idea. If you're using outlook express go to Tools, Options, Maintenance and change the destination in the Store Folder. blondie (1248)
71073 2002-08-14 12:28:00 Do as Blondie said, then import your old messages from the original location thus (this is from Outlook Express help BTW):

On the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages .
Select the e-mail program you want to import messages from, and then click Next .

Verify the location of your messages, and then click Next .

Choose All folders to import all the messages, and then click Next . You can also choose Selected Folders to import messages from one or more folders .

Click Finish .

Ok, hope this helps .

71074 2002-08-15 01:45:00 Thanks Blondie and Rod.Would dragging the files from where they are at present to a new folder, that I would set up in My Documents, and redirect OE to save there, work? It's just that I've set up a new folder called OE in my docs, and under File in that folder there is no mention of import. So not sure of what you mean by import when they are already in Outlook Express, but I want to take them out of there!!!Neil. 71075 2002-08-15 03:41:00 I had no problem doing that Neil so I can't see why it won't work for you. Susan B (19)
71076 2002-08-15 08:14:00 Thanks Susan, have done that. Dragged the files across into the new folder and left the old one there.Still works!I noticed that the original folder, after I restarted the PC, had some folders back in it,but not as many as I removed. But the emails are still appearing,so that will do me.Now to let a friend know how to do the same,as he lost all his when his son reformatted!
