| 70990 | 2002-08-14 06:17:00 | When releasing mouse cursor from the master volume slider there is a beep from inside the PC case. The beep volume is constant regardless of the position of the volume slider. 1. Problem doesn't occur with any other volume sliders, eg. wave, line-in. 2. Have muted PC speaker volume slider. 3. Problem occurred after reload of XP Home Edition from scratch. Not an issue previously. 4. Have tried the (not so) obvious Control Panel options for "Sounds and Audio" and "Accessibility. Have consulted XP's Help including its link to the MS Knowledge Base to no avail. |

| 70991 | 2002-08-14 06:22:00 | And your problem is??? Thats the on-board speaker and not the sound system warning you, and it does it on all my PC's. Presumably a warning you are messing with the volume, as if you have turned it right down it cannot tell you via the sound system.... It does not sound if you adjust the volume by any other method though. Same warning occurs if sound is turned right off, for other events (USB connect) |

| 70992 | 2002-08-14 07:44:00 | It's annoying, and it didn't happen before the reinstallation of XP. Problem occurs regardless of the position I move the slider to or from. Essentially it's everytime the mouse cursor is removed from the slider. |

| 70993 | 2002-08-14 07:54:00 | Thats correct. Its a "feature" even if you dont want it. As I always use the keyboard to adjust the volume, I never have the problem. Its only manual adjustment of the slider that causes the beeper on the motherboard to activate. If its a big deal, find another method of adjusting the volume? I mean its pretty painful having to go in via the icon each time anyway. There may even be a jumper on the motherboard to de-activate the beeper, check the manual. |
