71715 2002-08-16 11:57:00 They are all about as secure as each other.

Provided that you are sensible with what you do and keep virus defs and firewall running all should be fine.

71716 2002-08-16 12:10:00 thankyou and yes the only time avg or zone alarm are turned off is once a month when I do a defrag and at night of course when the puter is turned off thank you again as like i said I am very new to this but I have found this f1 page is more help than the help page on my puter ta luckysmum (1528)
71717 2002-08-21 22:36:00 be sure to run ad-aware and active privacy as well on a regular basis kiwibeat (304)
71718 2002-08-22 03:59:00 Those sayings of peoples, that it comes with viruses are untrue. There was a worm that was on the rampage a few months ago, but everybody knows of it now, and it's pretty much extinct I believe. MSN Is just as secure as the rest. Just don't download weird files, or if you do, then it's a good idea to run a check on them first with AVG!

71719 2002-08-22 05:29:00 how about something like this at

http://www.trillian.cc

Apparently it combines MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, AOL, etc... all into ONE package! Anyone ever use this?

71720 2002-08-22 05:31:00 I did, but it made me re-allow all my contacts to see me, it was weird but kool. I just use MSN tohugh so I've got no need for it!!!

71721 2002-08-22 06:03:00 Trillian isn't all that bad. It's quite handy if you use a lot of different messaging services but are limited with memory.

Just upgraded the comp so now I just stick with having ICQ(lite) and MSN on their own.

Though trillian is really nice. There are also other more complicated alternatives as well.

71722 2002-08-22 06:07:00 Yes, ICQ Lite is quite nice, I've recently started to use it mainly for SMS, but I've had an old address with a few friends I haven't spoken to in ages, and we've regained contact. ICQ Lite - V/Good!
One of the main reasons I don't use ICQ is coz it's so big and uses lots of resources on my machine (Its a P200 with 128MB Ram). So I ditched it.
