| 71643 | 2002-08-16 10:03:00 | you can't. most electrical devices will make fuzzy sounds with AM radio. you will just have to keep pc off or she will have to listen to FM (is there any decent AM station that is not on FM?) | tweak'e (174) | ||

| 71645 | 2002-08-18 07:15:00 | Simply rotate the radio about its axis to obtain the strongest signal and keep it near to an outside wall or window as far from the computer as possible. Choosing a stronger signal helps too, or winding several turns of wire around the radio, hanging one end out the window and connecting the other end to a good ground. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 71646 | 2002-08-18 07:41:00 | there is a little you can do if the covers are off the computer, put them back on. make sure that the computer is not getting its power from the same sourse as the AM radio the plug on the other side of the same wall probably counts as the same sourse if possable run a power filter, i have one i use to keep the power cleaner for some of my sound gear.. i'm not talking about a surge protecter, but one of the ones with wee coils and stuff that the power has to go through. They used to be built into the power supplys of big old mainframe computer stuff.. some of which i scavenged, gutted, and recycled parts from. if you cant get a filter, and you've plugged the comp/radio in elsewhere, and the covers are on, and you still have a problem, you might have to either hope your mum can live with it, or move the appliances further apart. good luck! |
