71554 2002-08-17 11:17:00 Sorry, I thought b**ch would be editted too. Bruce - prehaps the expletive removal software is a little too relaxed. Or does the punctuation stop it.

**TEST**

****. (Apologies if this is not edited)

well there goes something interesting the actual word will show up when you do the reply with quote thing. Unlike some other places which keep the *s all the way through.

It will just work on a basis where it scans through the whole post and filters out any string of charachters which matches up.

71558 2002-08-18 03:11:00 Hey baldy, i just got back having finished the load out associated with the 3rd gig this weekend... i'm shattered..
DC++ is the only program that doesn't like my linux firewall, and i'm going to need a couple of days before i have got the sleep i need to get the linux version installed on (suse) sam. I had to do it anyway, running DC++ on vanessa the windows box meant rebooting every 24 or so, as the computer would get terminally tied up in itself...
Oops, Is this off topic?

>>>>I avoid any postings originating from "teach me" and am suspicious of >>>>any postings with more than 10 replies.

point one.

Teachme AKA tim is learning a lot fast. the only **** he flings is straight back at those who give it to him for no reason. Without comprimising his personality, like it or lump it, he has swallowed his pride, and oppologised for being a prat. In the current threads he is showing not only a strong desire to learn, but a greater grasp of what is being said.
As far as i am concerned Pressf1 and tim have a good relationship, we are teaching teachme.. I think that is the sort of thing pressf1 was created to do.

point two,
10???
when a newbie, (and i dont mean just teachme) wants to try something new, like change a preferrance or reformat, what is said by someone who can do the job in thier sleep often doesn't make sense to them.
the more advice given, and the more questions the newbie asks the better. I'm a linux newbie, and i must annoy people who know it well, but it is better that i ask. In six months i'll be sharing the knowledge gained from here, or gained from using the system that Pressf1 has helped me to come to understand quicker. Everyone learns in differant ways, and the greater the level of discussion, the better we get to know each other, and the ways that we can help each other. Not to mention the socail facters that come in to it, starting with, but not limited to the "candy" group

It is good that you are willing to go through to the posts that no one else wants to touch... someones got to help with those sticky problems.

Somehow I doubt that. If you have a look at pressf1.co.nz you can see the excellent advice he is giving.

In saying that I suppose it adds some atmosphere to see what stupid thing he can say next. Where would batman be without the joker?

71561 2002-08-18 07:04:00 ummmmm yeah...
If i had read that, i wouldnt have said what i did above, however on This thread (pressf1.co.nz) we see the behaviour i was refering to. I still think it's improvement to see genuine interest in learning some of the time rather than never, and i hope we can give tim the responces deserved by his posts at the time, rather than just reinforcing utter bollicks by our own poor examples. My advice: if tim, or anyone posts abusivly ignore it, and if people genuinly are looking for help, please show some tolerance to the fact that they dont (yet) know what they are talking about.

71562 2002-08-19 04:06:00 Hehehe, Well, hasn't this been a nice debate topic, I got bored of reading half-way down after Chris Wilsonn posted his linux article.
Yeah, Teachme is learning lots and fast, but u have to to keep up in this world. Another thing, I enjoy the little joke posts/debate posts, like this, It's fun and adds a little spice to life ya know. Now, there is a lot of good advice being posted out there still, at the same time, so I dn't think it would be neccessary to split the PressF1 site at this time, however I'm not a moderator and those head honcho's are free to do as they please I guess. Wording the subject line correctly will get you a lot of posts to your technical question, however it it's labelled something like:
Help me please!!!
Then I personally would be bothered checking it out if it had more than 2 replies.
If you want a PC-Realted question to get lots of readers and therefore lots of reply's, word your subject very carefully. I think this post has attracted a lot of viewers, and it was a very subtle title too.

Hehe, In the mean time, As long as we don't joke around too much, I still love comiong back here and I'm sure all you otehrs do too. I do agree with Graham P. ( I think it was you, like, the 3rd post or something, I read it 15 minutes ago so I've forgotten :p) but yeah, Have fun, and as long as it doesn't get too out of control, I still am always more than happy to come back here and offer assistance when needed, if I can, or to ask a question, when I'm stuck!!!
Happy Helping
