71533 2002-08-17 01:12:00 I think the forum is fine as it is ... you can see where posts start to go off-topic and if you don't want to follow it, then don't.
I personally wouldn't logon to an IRC-type chatroom ... been there done that & I don't see it really achieving anything.

71534 2002-08-17 02:28:00 >>LOL LOL LOL Just incase anyone thinks I have a split personality, this post written by Viking and signed Baldy is a prime example of the joys of a shared computer amongst flat mates. Must remember to untick that "automatically sign on" gizmo

So how does that explain living in different parts of the country. Don't tell me you courier a shared laptop to each other.

71536 2002-08-17 03:20:00 As a Libran I can see both sided of this Thread, I would not like to see 2 x F1, as in F1 Technical + F1 Chat. There is a lot of JOY to be had in this Forum in its present mix, & yet I can understand the techies beef.
I have had a serious look at mysen (Yuk Orrible) (there I go again) & realise I am one of the biggest offenders. Sorry about that chief & chiefesses, I will try to control my fingers. I feel a bit guilty as when I came to this Forum there wasn't as much Chat as now. I began "Chatting & making silly comments" & probably because nothing was said by the Moderators, other people started as well.
At the start of the "Post New Topic" are six tick Boxes, one of which is "General Discussion" .However ticking one of these boxes does not show up at the start of a new thread. So what are they for? If someone wanted to Post an Off Topic Chat it could go into General Discussion thread. Leaving other threads for purely Technical Questions, albeit with a little humour. One tends to look upon people here as "Friends" as well, rather than just a stranger answering a question posed. So what's the answer? Blowed if I know. There must be an answer tho, eh?

Why are you contrite Poppa..... its a joy to be able to have a little keyboard jousting Poppa. I love the way PressF1 has turned semi-barmy. Oh, and those moderators can hardly complain, after high-jacking a thread last week (Kerry, Robo, Bruce and Scott) with that in-house jibberish about level 7 and 8...........

71541 2002-08-17 04:59:00 J ZEP,
seeing this is a thread about off topic posts, an off topic post is therefore what this thread is about, and therefore totally ontopic, which means...

......hang on that's a bit much, i think i go hide in the celler under the cave and wrap my head in tin foil cause the govt have turned the rays on again..... see totally on topic!
Chris Wilson (431)
71542 2002-08-17 05:36:00 Roofus is right, the way the responses push things to the top can make things weird. I am getting used to it slowly. I tend to cruise looking for threads with no answers to try to make sure people get some response. I don't get all of them, of course.
