| 71407 | 2002-08-17 05:17:00 | > and what do u mean my drivers wont work on win2000 i > think thy shoud > > and how do i find out my hard ware model numbers and > the manufactureres Hi Tim - Sounds like you still haven't been able to find out the imfo on your hardware, so i had a thought, you said your computer was still under warranty and thats how it was fixed this week, so presuming that, maybe they ( the company that you have the warranty with) have a 0800 phone number for help - if so give them a ring with your warranty number on hand and they will be able to tell you all the imfo you need about your hardware, model numbers and manufacturers etc... If i was you i would not attempt to do the reformatt until you have these details - as per Graham P's extremely good instructions - because as he said, you will need new drivers for all the hardware, the ME drivers won't work on 2000 - why - because simply they are 2 different operating systems!! (well at least go and check if your current drivers are compatible with win 2000 first anyway) - and if you attempt to do this (reformatt)without the new drivers downloaded and saved to disc, you will have no way to get them off the net cause, as Graham said, your modem won't work without the driver!! Check out the company you brought the computer off first for all the relevant details about your system hardware at least - I had to find out the same thing a few months back and the 0800 no. gave me all the imfo i needed, the advantage of having a warranty!! - e.g i can ring until 8pm tonight under the warranty - don't know who your with but it may be the same. Good luck on the reformatt - you are obviously going to do it - so be very careful! ;-) |
