72072 2002-08-18 01:15:00 When booting up this morning I got this message.

"Terminating thread due to stack overflow problem. A VxD, possibly recently installed, has consumed too much stack space. Increase the settings of 'MinSP' in SYSTEM.INI or remove recently installed VxD's. There are currently 4 SPs allocated."

Press any key to continue.

I did this then used Gateway Go-Back to revert my drive to a Safe Point prior to todays boot.
The only thing I have recently installed was a Video Driver update for my system from the Windows Update site on 4th July. The driver was for Intel (R) 828IOE

What does the error message mean and what do I need to do if it happens again?

72074 2002-08-18 01:26:00 To fix:

Click Start, Run, type C:\windows\system.ini, click OK.
Scroll to the section headed "[386Enh]"
Look for a line in that section starting with "MinSPs"
Increase the number at the end of the line by 4, save the file and reboot.

If there is no "MinSPs" line, insert a new line and type MinSPs=4, save the file, and reboot.

More information about why can be found here (support.microsoft.com)
