71842 2002-08-17 00:41:00 Hi,

I have just brought a new computer, and was wondering if there are any computer clubs in say the Dunedin area. I am looking to use PressF1 if I have any probs with my computer, but it would be nice if there was a social group I could join?

71843 2002-08-17 01:37:00 None that I know of. There used to be a Linux users group that met at Shooters on Princes St once a month, but I don't know if they still exist, but I can find out if you want.

You could try frequenting the internet gaming lounges, but you will only find that of use if you are into gaming. You will find these all over the city including:

The Cue Club on St Andrew St.
Sammy's on Crwaford St.
Laser Force on the corner of Frederick St and Anzac Ave.
Here at PressF1

Other than that, I can't help.

Happy Computing

71844 2002-08-17 03:13:00 There is a Linux Users Group in Dunedin (http://dunedin.lug.net.nz/). Perhaps they will convert you.

The Christchurch Public Library maintains a database of all sorts of social/interest/help/etc groups in Christchurch; perhaps the Dunedin one does this too...

71846 2002-08-18 00:43:00 the most important things are to use a antivirus norton 2002 is good also a rescue program I use GoBack and to fend of ads i use ad-aware and active privacy and Pestpatrol to hunt down trojans .There are lots of other progs out there the main thing to remember is that the more you install the buggier your system becomes welcome to ask any questions if you need any futher help or advice . Use Google and search for forum groups and hardware sites to learn more .
