I tried to install OS9 on it, but nope, it didn't like that I burnt the disc on a PC, so I gave up. My dad has a PowerMacG5 as his main system, using my old PC ram, speakers, monitor, speaker cord etc... He is always asking how to do stuff. It's a peice of crap. The only thing I use it for is when i'm scanning stuff, as I can't be bothered to bring my laptop into the lounge and hook the printer up to it. I think you need to get out of the house more. |

The G5 was so good that for a few years before 2005 Microsoft was the worlds largest consumer of them. (inb4 someone says they bought only 1). ( actually it was because they have similar hardware to the xbox 360 and the dual processors made them desirable to develop on). But seriously, people still use G5's today because they support up to osx 10.5 which makes them a very good option if you want a Mac server. But can't afford a new Mac pro. Also they make fairly cheap rendering and design work computers. |
