Those that do find it easier then life outside are failures to the point that for there own sake and the sake of society we might as well just leave them locked up as they prefer, No need to keep letting them out so they can ruin more peoples lives. |

And those who shares the views of 12v, That if someone carries out a crime after serving jail time then the jail failed and we should stop doing that. Strange logic, I would say the only way a jail fails is when people escape. |

Really, I think that the minimum security prisons and the max security prisons have got it all wrong . The max security prison should be really nasty, and basically protect society by locking away the prisoners . However . the minimum security prison should be much nicer, and focus on preventing those who commit minor, non violent crimes from offending again . t should do this by giving them skills, and by forcing them to manage some elements of their lives . Some (prefect :) ) might say its to soft, but I don't think so . If the max security prison protects society by locking away violent offenders, then the minimum prison also protects society, by giving 'petty' offenders a chance to manage their lives a little, and gain some skills . Then, there should be a in-between prison, for those who piss around in the minimum security prison and re offend, and also for those in the max security prison who are behaving well and everything . This in between prison should offer the ability to up-skill prisoners and give them a chance to manage parts of their lives, but should have higher security and tighter rules than the minimum security prison . |

Crime rate would drop and the taxpayers wouldn't have to fork out $h!tloads to keep the scum of the earth in better conditions than some honest hard-working Kiwi families are finding themselves living in. In fact ... shoot all the crims in Christchurch and put some of the people living in "unliveable" accommodation into Rolleston prison where they can get 3 meals a day, dry and warm living conditions, TV & games room and 24hr security guards. And I thought we were a country where we looked after those in need .... BOLLOCKS ! Sorry peoples ... went a little "off topic" .... rant over .. :D |

Perhaps they don't have a culture of attributing respect to time served, court appearances, woman beating, and being a complete **** while locked up. Our locals would eat that place for breakfast. |
