Auckland Council spent about $90m on their new IT system recently.

So, Watercare is now charging us wastewater as well as water from 1 July.Did they send me a letter to say so? No, I had to look it up and recalculate my monthly payments to them.

Having done so, I then ring the council, who BTW have not sent me a rates bill since I moved in here nor a notice about the wastewater chnages..

I ask, how much do I now reduce my monthly payments by, ie, how much is the new yearly amount now Watercare are charging the wastewater part?

Oh, they can't tell me cause they haven't generated the rates yet and the watercare thing doesn't start until 1 JUly.
Hang on, it's 9 July now and you can't tell me?

Back and forth a bit and they tell me I should wait until I get a bill.
But I don't get a bill I say.

Because you are in credit they say.

(Never mind, phone, power, water, everyone else is capable of sending me a bill, with my credit noted)

So send me a statement I say, in fact email me a statement, don't really want a mailed one.
Can't do it they say. Why?
The new system doesn't allow a bill to be generated if in credit.

Manually send one then, can't do it they say - see above -but they did finally email me what looks like hand typed statement showing my payments to date.....(As if I don't know my payments to date anyway...) This is statement apparently.

So now I can take a wild guess at my new payments minus wastewater charges and adjust the AP accordingly, how about the new rating system which according to their website shows I can expect an $800 a year decrease in my rates?

Oh no, can't tell you they say cause A)They haven't generated the rates yet and B)There is a 3 year transition period.

What does that mean exactly? It means, cause some people will be paying more, they are going to postpone my full decrease for 3 years and just adjust a bit at a time, to subsidise those whose rates are going up.

So I will pay more than my new rates for 3 years.

Can I get a statement showing the adjustments then I say? .......see above..........

1286686 2012-07-09 08:38:00 Now we may have to pay the Maori for water! Problem is that the water that was there when the Treaty was signed has long gone. That was replaced by British water, then the current water, Kiwi water. mzee (3324)

They are doing that as National has ignored the fact that the majority aren't interested in selling off the power companies.
As Mr Key said "We can ignore them".
Although I hope they win, I'm sick of govts pretending we have democracy, both of them ,National and Labour.

Vote them in and then they do what they like, have referendums and polls and then do the opposite of what the voters want.

Big problem is if they win they want the RMA changed so that they can get "compensation" for past and future water taking from power companies etc. So expect a big "compensation" bills for all the water that's been taken over the past 100 years.

Also wait until you get your next water bill. Obviously you live in a part of Auckland where waist water was not charged separately. You in for an unpleasant surprize then..

The Majority?

Did the National party not get back into government (with the highest number of votes in an MMP election)?
They went into the election saying they were going going to partially privatise assets.

Blame the majority of people that voted for National/Act/UF. If the majority had voted for labour/Green, then maybe they wouldn't be selling asets.
