| 1310220 | 2012-11-03 03:09:00 | One of my relatives recently purchased a new HP G6-2103AX laptop and it had an offer to upgrade to Windows 8. Before the upgrade to Windows 8 the fan was quiet. Now its on all the time with Windows 8 installed. Any idea as to what is happening? |

| 1310221 | 2012-11-03 03:39:00 | This is only a guess, as haven't struck this problem yet, and cant see the setting on your laptop: On this desktop ------- Open the control Panel - Power Options, on the setting that's being used, click Change Plan Settings - Change Advanced Power Settings - Processor Power Management - System Cooling - Try altering the settings. The problem may be that Windows 8 has taken over the cooling controls, and HP haven't updated their own software yet. |

Keeps coming up with diagnostic repair. Have tried system restore and nothing happens at all. |

| 1310223 | 2012-11-03 07:45:00 | Tried the setting on this Desktop PC before posting, and there was no side effects what so ever. Mind you This was a fresh install not an upgrade. If system Restore is not working then its possible the OS may have not installed correctly in the first place, this can happen when doing upgrades from a previous OS, new or not. Have you tried a refresh ? The options are listed blogs.msdn.com Suggest reading the whole thing ( exclude the comments). On a HP I did on Thursday last week, there were several preinstalled programs that had to be uninstalled first as they are not compatible with W8 If you had any antivirus software installed on W7 it pays to remove this before doing any upgrades, theres known problems with upgrades and third party AV Software, as Windows 8 comes with its own version of MSSE Preinstalled. |
