1285985	2012-07-04 21:21:00	I like watching documentaries about crime and prisons and a recent video I watched by Louis Theroux about a prison especially built for pedophiles had me thinking the above question. The dominant ethnicity in this facility had me thinking and then I reflect back on the other news articles regarding those caught for this had me thinking even more.	sam m (517)
1285986	2012-07-04 21:41:00	Social classes tend to hang out and stick to the same areas, as to a lot of ethnic groups. When you have a bunch of kids hanging out in the same area they tend to pick up the same traits and habits as others so if it starts off with nicking a few mentos and pies from the dairy because they are too hungry it builds up too bigger crime such as just taking because they can and potentially selling it, it goes from there. So yeah I guess social class and ethnicity DO have a role to play but not as a generalization.	The Error Guy (14052)

1285989	2012-07-05 04:02:00	What I was implying is that in general prison (USA) the ethnicity of those incarcerated are generally of the ethnic minority groups, even in NZ the prison population appears to be predominately Maori. However in the video I watched regarding the pedophiles, they were mainly white middle class males. Does this mean that somewhere in their upbringing leads to a tendency for this to occur, or is it something with the genetic make up of white males.	sam m (517)

1285991	2012-07-05 04:33:00	The anecdotal evidence I have gleaned so far is that white males are more likely to be pedophiles. That makes no sense to me why this would be so therefore thereI am trying to understand what other societal factors might contribute to this.	sam m (517)

No some ethnics hide the abuse better keep it in the family, its not something they would go to the feld polizei for. Some ethnicities say bugger the family and run for the feld polizei as soon as it is uncovered.	prefect (6291)
1285993	2012-07-05 04:39:00	I do not intend to sound racist, but I watch the CI channel alot, and the majority of people that get arrested seem to be black people, or people in "The Hood" or "Ghetto" etc... I do think ethnicity has something to do with it. I also noticed that most of the women or young girl killers are middle aged white men.	goodiesguy (15316)
1285994	2012-07-05 05:09:00	The video I watched really surprised me as I would guess about 90% of these pedophiles were white middle aged males. If I think about the NZ situation of the guys that get caught with watching or distributing child pornography I can only ever recall them being white males. I can understand, but not condone, stealing and violence as they are a want of possession and the other a reaction to emotions which we all have. But what I don't get is what is it about white middle class males that make them a profile that wants to do these things to children.	sam m (517)
