| 72099 | 2002-08-18 03:20:00 | Hello, can someone help? I am using msn messenger and the ZoneAlarm pro 3 firewall, I am having problems. I am able to connect to msn messenger and type and share files with my contacts. However, whenever I try to talk on line it is unable to connect to the other peorsons computer. I have tuned the audio options, and have also noticed that if I disable the ZoneAlarms firewall I am able to sucessfully conect and talk to my contacts using msn messenger. I presume from this the problems relate to the firewall, does anyone know how I can adjust the firewall settings to permit msn conferencing/talk? Regards, Stefan |

One possible way around this problem would be to allow MSN Messenger to act as a server. Look at the programs access area and check the permissions that are set for MSN. Most likely it will be set to access the internet BUT not to act as a server. Left click and allow it to act as a server. Needless to say this opens ports on the computer and is a security risk, so it is advisable to only permit it to act as a server when you need it. Hope this helps. |
