| 72087 | 2002-08-18 02:30:00 | Peter, We need more info. What are you running at startup? Goto Start>Run type "msconfig" sans-quotes and press enter. Click on the startup tab, and let us know what is listed there. You can try at discover what it might be yourself by checking out pacs-portal (www.pacs-portal.co.uk) Strange that your browser opens. What loads in the browser when it does?? Your homepage or something else? You could try installing firewall which may tell you which program is trying to access the net. There were several on this months PCWorld cover CD, or you can download one. Try Zonealarm as it is good for beginners. Zonealarm (http://www.zonealarm.com) Let me know how you get on. G P |

| 72088 | 2002-08-18 07:10:00 | Thank you. That link was exceptionally helpful and has fixed the problem. I had a truckload of junky spyware and stuff, but it seems it was the AVG virus killer which wanted to march off onto the internet for some reason. I am sorry I cant remember where the browser went. I always just got fed up and closed it before it made it to anywhere. Thanks again. |
