| 72731 | 2002-08-20 10:43:00 | maybe u need a new driver for ur cd rom drive, wot windows OS or linux OS r u using? go to driverzone (http://www.driverzone.com) for drivers for any cdrom drives. does this problem occur with every cd or just one cd or a select few, if all then probably the lens is buggered or maybe the cdrom has wrong generic drivers for it. cheers, v.K--------------- :D |

Other things that may help is if you have installed any software or hardware recently - let us know the details. Some things to think about are ... 1) Does your CDRom have the light go on when you boot up - if not it could just mean the power to the CDROM is loose and needs to be pushed in 2) Does the D:\ drive actually appear in Windows Explorer and its just not recognising that CD? If so try another CD to discount the fact there might be something wrong with that particular CD rather than the drive itself 3) Installing new drivers could be necessary but could be other things. Understanding what Operating System helps us understand what things may be in/out for possible solutions 4) What mode were you in? I presume you were in Windows rather than a DOS mode? DOS needs real mode drivers - separate drivers than what Windows uses, and these need to be installed before your CDR will work in DOS. cheers Parry |
