72653 2002-08-20 06:44:00 my computer stopped working. Nothing happens except the fan is running in the power supply and on the processor. I am wondering if it is a bad power supply because I cannot even open the CD Rom.
There are no beeps or any sound whatsoever.

72654 2002-08-20 07:27:00 Hmm. I would have been surprised that the fan on the processor uses 230volts. But your assumption about the CD is a valid one, however. Doesn't look good. Can you grab an old power supply and try it? Don't install fully, just power the basics - HD, CD, and see what happens.
If the HD isn't spinning up, it's not sounding good.

72655 2002-08-20 07:39:00 Fans run on the +12v usually.
It does point to no +5v in that the CD wont power.
Could be an odd fault, but be aware that many PC's have a "power Good" signal before they will boot, and if the voltage is outside the specs it will just sit there...
