73593 2002-08-24 23:13:00 Windows 98, Netscape 4.79.
Unusual problem in that I can get on line, send/receive email but can't surf the web. Any attempt to goto a web address gets the message "document done" and an everlasting hourglass. Have un/reinstalled Netscape and have even stepped back to Netscape 4.77. Installed Mozilla which works but is flakey and keeps hanging up, runtime errors etc. Have never seriously looked at I.E. and don't really want to. Have been using Netscape ( no problems) since the beginning. Help!!

73594 2002-08-24 23:21:00 Are you using NS mail or something else for your email.

Go to Edit/Preferences
Click on Advanced/Proxies
Make sure you have Direct connection to the internet selected
Click on Cache on the left and Clear Cache now

73595 2002-08-24 23:33:00 Yep! Been using total Netscape forever. Cleared the cache but problem still there.
Using two computers (both Netscape) and access OK on this one. Thanks anyway, Jim

73596 2002-08-24 23:47:00 Check this then

The link for the download is on this page
www.mygetright.com

Netscape versions 4.05 to 4.0x do fix this problem but Netscape 4.5-4.7x seem have the problem again.
If My GetRight is moved, deleted, or incorrectly uninstalled, it can not update the settings used to integrate into Netscape. Netscape (most versions) then has problems because it can't find the My GetRight files.
Symptoms are obvious: the browser doesn't ever open any web page you type in or select from your bookmarks and always says "Done" at the bottom.
To Fix:
* If you save this file, unzip it, and run the FIX_NSCP.REG it will remove the settings from Netscape.
* Or to do this by hand, the registry settings to remove are:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Netscape\Netscape Navigator\Automation Protocols]
http= (delete value)
ftp= (delete value)
* Both My GetRight and the My GetRight installer also both detect and can fix this problem.
