| 73585 | 2002-08-24 13:49:00 | I hope someone may have the answer to my problem. I no longer get the message stating that it is "safe to turn off your computer". My OS is Windows Millennium. I have tried restoring a good copy of my registry and a reinstall of windows over the top of itself, without success. Any further suggestions would be appreciated. Rusty |

This can sometimes fix problems with your OS You can also try pressing alt and F4 which is the shut down shortcut but I don't hold much hope for that. The best thing to do is grab the help file from your ME and run through the options in there. Click on start and then Help in the index is listed shut down failures and has quite a few work throughs that could be causing the problem |

| 73587 | 2002-08-24 23:54:00 | Rusty windows ME dosnt as far as I'm aware of come up with "Its Safe to turn of your computer off". I been using ME for about two years and all that I do is press "Start/Shutdown" another sreen then appears with three options "Shutdown/Restart/Standby" if you choose "Shutdown" the computer powers down and you just switch of at the wall. (Thats all I been doing for two years and no probs). cheers merlin-nz ;) |

| 73588 | 2002-08-25 00:42:00 | Thanks dipstick01 and merlin-nz for your help. I have isolated the problem to a new video card just installed. If my PSU was ATX I would never have become aware of the problem, as you confirm merlin-nz. Cheers Rusty |

| 73589 | 2002-08-25 01:15:00 | Same here Merlin, I have been using WinME and you just click Shutdown and it powers down, all you need to do is switch off the monitor. Win98 had the Safe to to turn logo but never seen it on WinME | duckyduck (197) | ||
| 73590 | 2002-08-25 02:26:00 | lol...I must have a mutant version of ME as ever since I got my computer I have seen the safe to turn of logo. | dipstick01 (445) | ||
| 73591 | 2002-08-25 02:57:00 | My WinME always shows the message "It is safe to turn off your computer". It then shuts down itself as per normal leaving me only the monitor to switch off. If you go under Display Properties > Themes tab > Settings area > tick beside Startup/Wait/Shutdown logos. I presume (haven't tested) that this will bring back your shut down logo. |

| 73592 | 2002-08-25 03:58:00 | Hello, Rusty, My OS, ME has always shown the "Safe to turn off your computer now" message......but you have to be xtra quick to read it !! Like, there it is/isn't !! But I have found that if I turn off all the ancilliary equipment first, the turn off will "hang". So, now I turn off the PC first, wait until it shuts down and then turn off the bits and pieces.
