73572 2002-08-24 12:37:00 I have a Compaq presario 4780 With pentium 200mmmx purchased in 1997 and running windows 95. This came with a USB port. Now I have a digital camera that requires a usb connection I am told that windows 95 wont support this connection. Is this true? Why would compaq put such a connection in the unit if it could not be used? mwh. (1617)
73573 2002-08-24 15:28:00 Early versions of Win 95 didn't have USB support. Win 95c on have it included although I have heard that the original USB drivers weren't all that good. Go here for a number of USB drivers www.usb-drivers.com Gorela (901)
73574 2002-08-24 21:53:00 Well, it was the early days of USB, and it wasnt supported fully by either the bIOS, or the Win95B/C drivers. Just as in the same way early PCI bus wasnt fully supported and not all PCI devices worked. Just one of those things. There is a USB patch that can be downloaded from somewhere on the MS windows95 pages. That may help. You will have to just try it, but dont be surprised if the camera doesnt work properly.
