73566 2002-08-24 11:55:00 Interesting to note your article back in June.....

"Back in June we looked at the Symantec hardware firewall (New and Improved, page 48) and it certainly came up with the goods. Simply plug it in and you're away. It retails for around $1200 incl GST and allow you to protect an entire small network without installing a single piece of software. Of course, things are never quite that simple when it comes to computers, and some tweaking of settings will be needed to get the internet connection running properly through the device."

I now have one of these and need to set it up between our D-Link DSL-500 router and our network ? Have read all the material but an still having problems - what do i have to setup in the router ? and looks like the firewall doesn;t support PPPoA.

Confused ? can anyone help ?

I think you may need to refer to the vendor support, if people here havn't got the product they struggle to help.

73568 2002-08-25 21:37:00 Hi. As always (for other regular adsl PressF1 users), this address is great to subscribe to an NZ adsl support list: www.unixathome.org Greg S (201)
73569 2002-08-26 08:34:00 Just thought that since one of you guys tested it in the review you might have some idea how you got it going ? dave_herries (1616)
73570 2002-08-26 09:19:00 If the Firewall can perform NAT then I suggest you configure the D-Link to NAT rather than Bridge, and just double NAT the connection. If the Firewall can route then even better as you only need to NAT once (on the D-Link only). BIFF (1)
73571 2002-10-09 01:38:00 Just wondering about routing the firewall rather than having to NAT twice.. Has anyone done this with the Symantec appliance ? As would like to stay clear of NAT twice. dave_herries (1616)
