| 73445 | 2002-08-23 13:37:00 | I'm 32mg ram win 98 PC erratic reloaded win 98,I'm 32mb ram, still no good. Removed all cards except monitor. Still no good. removed memory chips cleaned and refitted. Apears OK as boot up from spare HD now ok. Reloaded win 98. After approximate 1 hr all seamed OK but after last reboot win98 started to auto setup personal settings and when it arrives at auto setup personal multimedia settings it hangs. Reformated & partitioned HD and reloaded custom setup and unclicked multimeadia box. Still hangs? Have not been able to stop auto setup trying to setup multimeadia? |

| 73446 | 2002-08-25 01:10:00 | Hi Advocar, Im sorry i havent got an answer for that specific problem but I recently bought a 2nd-hand Compaq laptop and had crash/hang problems after installing Win98SE. The problem was fixed by downloading new BIOS firmware upgrades and other patches specific to the model of the laptop and wasnt a problem with Win98SE per se. During installation did installation itself crash or you have these problems only after a successful install? I had a successful install but problems just kept occuring recently after install similar to you, although just crashing not trying to re-install itself. If this isnt an existing machine that you have changed OS on, I would recommend looking for updates for m/bd BIOS & other updates. Also look in their FAQ for possible install problems with Win98. Mine had loads of issues with Win98. cheers Parry |
