73915 2002-08-26 02:06:00 Having upgraded to XP Pro I have found that my modem seems to be having difficulty with connecting to my ISP. The modem is an internal SpeedCom+ Rockwell HCF V.90, K56 56K bps. This worked perfectly in Win98 but with XP, which installed it as Best Data Data Fax Modem, it takes a long time to connect and then frequently fails.
Previously I could use an old version of Telix to check, or alter, the AT commands. I can't seem to do this in HyperTerm. Any suggestions?
Also, what is the correct configuration for this modem?
Thanks
Nick Withers.

73916 2002-08-26 02:39:00 look here for some good advice.www.modemsite.com

It seems that there is no support available for your exact modem, no longer even a manufacturer homepage and your problems are experienced by others by looking on the web.

Some have given up on soft modems under XP and gone for hardware types, but the advice in the link above is interesting, that it may be OK if you remove it physically and reinstall when upgrading.

73917 2002-08-26 02:48:00 Try going to Conexant. They're the company that used to be Rockwell and they have various generic drivers for the HCF modems for different Windows versions including XP. Also try their www.conexant.com page[/url] to see if you can find one of the drivers that might work.

PS On that drivers page, scroll down the page and click Agree to go to the download page, or you can follow the link to WinXP Info, which gives you some info then offers the Agree button again to proceed to the download page.
