The name gets used a bit like a "hoover" to describe a vacuum cleaner, not all are made by "Hoover" Win Modem and Soft Modem and PCI Modem and LT Win Modem are all variants of a collection of chips that act as a modem under windows. As the previous poster said, many use a Lucent chipset, but they will usually require drivers according to who made the modem, and how they configured it. |
