| 74206 | 2002-08-27 10:05:00 | iam trying to work something out and i think i might have misunderstood it this is it. To work out your cpu speed is it the frontside bus speed times your multiplier setting in your bios. For example i have a celeron 433 with a fsb speed of 66mhz but my multiplier settingis 5.5 which if this is true my processor is running at 363 mhz so do i increase the multiplier setting to 6.6 so then my processor would be running at the correct speed of 429 mhz. Could someone please let me know if i am right or wrong. Thanks in advance chris | chris k (1651) | ||

| 74208 | 2002-08-27 11:21:00 | your theory is right. now as in your case if your really running at 66mhz fsb then your real multiplier is 6.5 The thing is Intel cpus can't be unlocked, so even you set the multiplier in your bios or by jumpers, the speed won't change. You may see your new multiplier value but the speed will stay the same. Unless you have unlocked intel cpus which i'm not sure if you can get those. |
