I am moving to Napier and will be looking for 56Kb dial-up.

I followed a number of threads a few months ago which suggest I may have been spoilt by my current location (and of course the access links, in Khandallah.) The threads indicated some dissatisfaction with my main ISP (praradise) which I have used for over 2 and half years through an 0867 number - consistemtly logging on at 52 or 53 Kb and almost never (even after the transfer to Telstra Clear ownership) getting busy signals. Even if I do, I have a 5*20 sec retry and have always connected on 2nd or 3rd dialin.

Unfortunately the negative comments did not indicate any geographic references

I will probably continue with paradise - their plan suits my usage and pocket but woquld be interested if there are connection problems specific to 0867 Dial-up access in Napier/Taradale.

74126 2002-08-27 03:48:00 I haven't had any experience with paradise in Napier so I can't help you there. I was with Quicksilver for a while but have since changed back to xtra as the connection speeds for Quicksilver were getting slower and slower

Yes I've used paradise for some time now, and your experience is the similar to me, although my speeds are a little lower around 48kbps

I guess its a bit of the luck of the draw with local line conditions.
