2002-08-26 21:35:00 | Changed ISP . The following problems have occured. Cannot send or receive mail on O/E , comes up as it does not recognise the server. Have checked with the helpdesk and that it is ok. MSN Messenger can send and retrieve but can only sign in using their h/desk. My d/ drive will not play a compact disk, says " please insert disc." A/drive , cannot open a Floppy Disc or save anything . Says that "cannot be saved", even on a new disc. " Have no trouble connecting to the internet. Run ME on IE6. Away to work , will check back this evening. cheers . S.M.

2002-08-27 01:12:00 | I really cant see how your problems with disks drives could be related to your change of ISP, unless you changed to www.satanic.hex.isp.org.nz The cannot receive/send bit we could work on... who actually is your new ISP?

2002-08-27 07:24:00 | I would try System Restore | Baldy (26) | |
2002-08-28 04:36:00 | If your mail server settings are as per this: Here (www.clear.net.nz) you *should* be right... (you will need a PDF reader to veiw this) If not panic, or try a system restore.

2002-08-28 09:01:00 | Dont PANIC! Atleast not yet..... First keep in mind that those of us like Baldy and myself tend to take on the easyer questions, we contribute what we can with the knowledge levels we have. This is now in the too hard basket for me. Fortunatly there are those here that run rings around us... BUT more info will be needed to work this one out. the CD drive Are the lights on, but no-one is home? EXACTLY how far does it get.. Does it spin up, light up to say that it is reading a disk? Please describe everything that happens in mindlessly boring detail Same with the floppy.. If it was mine i would take the side off, and push the IDE leads in firmly, just to "make sure". Theres lots more easy things to do, but as i run 98, i wont describe them, as i would possibly mislead you.... Provide more info, and you may find the solution yet.

2002-08-29 06:45:00 | Never fear .. Panic would never be an option. Surprise Surprise ... Have my drives back. Tried 3 more restore dates and 1 three days after I changed my ISP CAME UP TRUMPS. Before that . there were no lights and no whirring when I tried a c/d. Just nothing.. The a/drive would not save anything . even to a new floppy, and would only open a recorded file to a blank page. Only have the o/e and h/m to correct , but fotunately can get to h/m by a circuitous route. { 4windows}.. Wondering if one should uninstall o/e and install again? Anyway, thanks to you, Chris and Baldy .Cheers. S.M.
