| 74083 | 2002-08-26 13:46:00 | For some time now I have suspected that spamers know when I have received their emails. At first it was because when I got tired of just deleting spam, and setup filters to put them straight into the trash the offending sources changed their addresses slightly so as to bypass the filters. Recently it is virus infected email that Norton Antivirus caught and quarantined getting sent again and again; 13 times in the last 3 and a half hours: all from the same address...Krazy_chicken<krazy_chicken@hotmail.com> . Now its 14 times-twice since I started typing this! Vince | Vince (406) | ||

Therefore they change their address regularly. The 13 viri? Well the sender just doesn't know they have a viri, they are still on line, and the viri is happy to breed in the general direction of anywhere that can be found, including you, yes 13 times..Viri are NOT personal vendetta from the sender. Usually only the sick little **** that wrote it in the first place is malicious. One thing i will say, when i see spam, i go into offline mode before viewing blocking and deleting it. The reason for this is that i have noticed more and more spam is loading images off servers.., and those servers, if nothing else can count how many times the mail has been opened |

Remove the tick that allows OE to check for and download mail and let mailwasher do it, you can blacklist people and bounce those messages back to the sender, makes your address appear to be no longer current. I started using it maybe 3 or 4 months ago, spam was around 40+ messages aday, it was down to about one or two when I last saw it. Another mate living in NZ uses it, was getting in excess of 200 spams a day in OE, now he only downloads to his computer genuine mail and the amout of spam he gets has dropped right off to almost nothing. |

You have to set the preview pane options for every account, hotmail and newsgroups all start out with the preview pane on default setting. Also check your settings for read receipts as this can be another favourite way to confirm email addys |

Duckyduck, is that Mailwasher hard to set up? I get a bit bamboozled (probably the onset of Alzheimers LOL) and get confused over what settings to put in. Have tried before, but usually give up in exasperation BALDY :-) |
