74669 2002-08-28 22:44:00 Hi. I've finally succumbed to the ghastly concept of placing an ad on a popular website :( Sad but true. Anyway, I haven't sussed out my Adobe Photoshop properly, and wondered if anyone knows of a useful image creator/manipulator program that can easily create a simple (tasteful!) animated gif for a banner, please.

I'm sure there's a trial/freeware version of something on the PCWorld cd's, but I sure can't find it.

74671 2002-08-29 04:39:00 Hi. Were you ever so right! Thanks - PSP that I installed a year ago from NZ PCWorld's CD still has a runnable sub-app called Jasc Animation Shop which appears to do the job just fine! Doh me for not looking at it first.

Ta again.

74676 2002-08-31 23:12:00 Well I made my banner, and it's now live on an NZ website - my first ever advert! haha. I wondered if I could get some unbiased opinions of it, please? I'm worried that the animations run too fast, or that it's too tacky that no-one would give it a second look or whatever.

Thanks! It's at pricespy.co.nz (http://www.pricespy.co.nz)

74677 2002-08-31 23:51:00 Hey Greg,

The ad looks great! Certainly subscribes to the KISS principle .

My only comment would be: What's your point of difference to any other company that offers web sites for $15?

You might want to tell people that they still get quality for their $15 . Sometimes things that are priced very cheaply in online ads are overlooked because people put them in the 'too good to be true' category . You can thank all the nasty misleading 'something for nothing' banner ads that still appear all over the 'Net for that .

Make sure you point out that although your prices are cheap, people will still get good quality . Tell them about the features they get for their $15 . Then you establish credibility and give them a reason to click through for more info .

The creative itself is excellent though - do you have a logo for your Company name? If so - put that in it as well . It all goes towards showing you're a REAL business .

And don't forget to use the ALT-tag feature, even if it's to simply say 'Click here for more info' .

Congratulations though - you've done better on your first attempt than many major 'corporates' I've dealt with! ;-)

Cheers
