| 74545 | 2002-08-28 10:28:00 | Hi , I have formatted & re-installed win95a (1st version) on a friends PC ,Pentium 100mhz,16mb ram 1gb hdd. I then installed avg free edition off one of the recent pcworld cds & the problem is when I try to open AVG by clicking on the desktop shortcut I get an error message sayin "The dciman32.dll file cannot start.Check the file to determine the problem" (also update wont work too) I have replaced the file with a new one extracted from the windows CD & Ive uninstalled AVG & reinstalled AVG with file downloaded from grisoft site. I have sent Grisoft technical support an email & they say "it is a windows file - reinstall windows" So I formatted again & reinstalled windows95 using "version C" & I still get the same error messages :-( Perhaps someone has a fix for this problem?? thanks in advance. cheers Steve |

| 74549 | 2002-08-30 08:42:00 | Well I finaly got it sorted, I removed the sound card & modem & formatted ,Then I installed windows & then I installed AVG. AVG opened ok, next I installed the video driver & AVG would not open & gave me the same error message. Next I replaced the suspect video card with another & it still didnt work :-( So back to the drawing board, format & re-install windows, then AVG, then video driver & success at last :-) Finished re-installing modem & sound card & it is working perfectly at last. :-) Cheers Steve cheers Steve |
