74534 2002-08-28 09:25:00 is this only happening with cds that u created? have u tried cdrs which ur friends have created. do they work? .cda is i think the file format for data cds? so maybe ur cdrw drive is not following its instuctions and creating a data cd, i'll check around for more help, but others should def, be able to solve ur problem.

cheers,

74535 2002-08-28 10:07:00 err, a .cda track is audio. Programs like nero are designed not to play the music but to read the data.

Try installing winamp and running the cd from that.

74536 2002-08-28 10:09:00 On second thoughts, it sounds like you are burning all CDs as Audio, instead of ISO or joliet SoniKalien (792)
74537 2002-08-28 10:18:00 So what happens if you burn an audio CD, and you then try to play that same said cd in a standard audio CD player?????
I'm thinking that your CD writer doesn't have the audio lead to your sound card attached, so it doesn't play the audio CD's, which may indeed be fine.. either way, this test will show us weather you can't fully play good CD's , or if you are writing coasters.

BTW don't try this on a rewritable... they most audio CD players HATE them.

74539 2002-08-28 11:09:00 Hi callum, also I was wondering if you have tried rebooting your computer after burning the cd's - as i have had a problem with not being able to play cds after burning, but after reboot it is sweet as again - this is using wind xp by the way. Its like it (the burner) stays in writing mode and so it can't read what is there. J ZEP (336)
74540 2002-08-28 11:17:00 ive tried everything, even making music cds and trying them in a stero, it still didnt work. all the plugs inside my computer are in the correct positions.

my collection of coasters are riseing and i still dont have anything.

i might try getting it replaced, its pretty new and still under warranty.

thanks anyway

74541 2002-08-28 12:01:00 Hi again callum, you say that its a new writer and still under warranty - so that may be the way to go then, perhaps it is a fault in the writer eh?

Anyway just in case you hadn't seen these threads, but i think they have covered most of the stuff you have done already, except in my thread Graham L had a suggestion of trying to "unmount" - so may pay to have a read and try that.
Incidently what were you trying to open them in? As you say: i go into my computer d: (my cd-rw drive) it just says track01.cda.
