2002-08-28 06:14:00 | Hello Again everyone I am having problems with my 3d shooters. I have recently bought a new computer, 2000 mhz, windows xp, 512 mb of ram, and NIVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX 400. All my 3d shooters, Unreal Tounament GOTY edition, Quake 3 arena, and Halflife, run from, 5 to 10 minutes, and then freeze and repeat the last sound, then go past the next few frames, and shows the next shot with the new sound repeating. If I ctrl alt delete it runs very slowly to get out, and the mouse goes jolty. Once windows xp desktop is shown again, the computer runs incredibly slowly, and I canot exit windows due to this, and have to turn off my computer. Please, help me, I want to be able to play my games in peace, many of my friends have told me that it must be a graphics card problem, with the set up, Im not sure, please, I need help.

2002-08-28 07:49:00 | You could try running the online diagnostic tool PCPitstop available at http://www.pcpitstop.com This will run a full scan on your computer and find/repair any known problems. BALDY:-)

2002-08-28 19:46:00 | Ok guys, well my motherboard is an P4S333/C ASUS (SiS645Chipset DDR333), whatever that means, and it is not an Athlon. I will try that pc piststop tonight after school, thanks. Im not exactly sure how to check my temps on the computer, but by touch, they seem the same, when playing, and when not. Something you guys might like to note, is that I have trouble going into full screen on early made programs, Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3 are ok, but games like The Sims, Age of Empires 1, and Quake 2 are problem games. Thanks for you help so far Guys

2002-08-29 00:29:00 | I had the same sort of problems when I purchased a new computer with much the same specs as yours. I spent months going to different sights such as PC Pit Stop, the manufacturers sights, running Sysoft Sarah to ascertain cpu temp and other things, and tweaking setup settings, video and sound, and reinstalling drivers etc. I contacted the company I had purchased the PC from frequentlyand took it in three times, and even had the Geforce 400 replaced. The technicians were personalble but kept saying that their sink tests showed there were no hardware problems, and that would be after a week of having the computer at the store. In the end I came across a sight that showed that there was a bios problem, which required flashing and resetting the bios. After following these sort of problems on various forums, I personally would now just take the computer back and ask for a replacement, as you are entitled to do under the Consumer Gaurantees Act, as your computer does not fulfil one of the purposes you purchased it for. It is obvious that there is a problem with your computer that is not of your making and you should be able to play your games without any of these hassles.

2002-08-31 01:45:00 | Hmmm .... hard to tell what it could be really, are all (and I mean ALL) your drivers up-to date, especially video, sound and input. Does the prob occur immediately after a reboot, or after the pc has been going a while and you've been surfing, playing other games, etc?
