74701 2002-08-28 23:34:00 Hey guys,

I was about to burn a CD this morning, and had flashed my writer with the correct firmware from Aopen (v 1.15 now I think) for the CRW3248... when I was in Nero, it recognised that it was a 32X writer, but for some reason, it said that the max speed I could select to burn at was 24X...

I was using older Kodak 12X media (hadn't put it in tray yet) but thought it strange that there wasn't an option to burn at 32X like there used to be... is anyone else aware of this? I am currently downloading the Nero update to the latest version and hope this will fix it.

Cheers,

Lo.

74702 2002-08-29 04:59:00 Does your cdrw have "Just Speed" like my Aopen 40/48? If so it will set itself to the best speed for the media you are using. Also, 32 speed would only be reached on the outer part of the disc. From memory, a 32 would average out at about 20. Pretty sure it is not a Nero problem.

74703 2002-08-29 05:14:00 Like I said, although my writer has Justspeed, I hadn't even put my cd-r into the drive so it wouldn't have activated.

I am also aware of how it isn't "true" 32X which is achieved towards the outer rings... the fact is that 32X should still be selectable, which it isn't currently.

No idea what the story is but once I install the latest Nero will check again.
