75104 2002-08-30 10:43:00 I'm an old 98se devotee but have moved to the XP times.

Is there anyway to get REGEDIT to behave like it did in 98se. In XP it seems to remember where you last were. Which is really annoying because it opens with everything expanded in places.

There must be an easy cure.

75105 2002-08-30 10:47:00 There is, its VERY easy.

Right click on the top "My Computer" in RegEdit and select "collapse" before you leave it - each time.

Told you it was easy....You expect too much from Bill, all those users who told him they wanted it left as they exited. Very handy when you need to go back and "unfix" it, you dont get lost.

75108 2002-08-30 12:51:00 but regedit is good.

This might be the one time where I revert to a third party reg editer.

75109 2002-08-30 21:16:00 -=JM=- I have a feeling I saw something in TweakUI or Xteq or something similar that allowed you to set Regedit to forget where you last were looking, so that whenever you open it everything is nicely collapsed. But I'm afraid I can't remember what tweak program it was that I was using (Probably Xteq).

<koff> ah no, I just looked :) in Xteq it allows you to clear the last place you were looking, but doesn't do it permanently. There might be a security option somewhere deep in XP that will let you turn it off.

75110 2002-08-31 00:01:00 Surely, there must be a registry fix for it ... :D antmannz (28)
75111 2002-08-31 00:12:00 Check here (support.microsoft.com). Although it's specifically for Win2K it should work for XP.

..... told you there was a registry fix :P
