| 75068 | 2002-08-30 08:53:00 | Hello there I hace 2 XP PC's, the Desktop, and a Laptop. The Destop arrived in Mid Nov 01, I installed Off95 & Off97 no trouble, both from original CDs (not copies) After I loaded Off95 & Off97 on the Laptop (purchased laptop in June02 - no MS Office apps installed) , the only trouble I encountered, is when opening Access97 on the Laptop, a warning comes up saying the CD key is invalid and refuses to allow use of the program, however, 97 Word, Excel & PPT work without hinderance. Ive not reloaded Off97 on the Laptop to see if this will fix the problem. I was wondering if XP Registration in Nov97 or subsequent Windows Automatic Updating on the Laptop has alerted MS about the location of Off97 on the Laptop and disabled Access, but why just Access. As a sidenote, Ive had the same dual setup in Win98 (Desktop & Laptop) without hinderance. Thanks for your attention. |

Because the above is a known fault with Access and the cure can be found here (support.microsoft.com). |

That's one thing Microsoft have actually allowed people to do - have one copy on a desktop and one on the laptop. (although they are expecting you to be only using one copy at a time, so if the laptop office is being used, the desktop office must be off). make sense? Mike. |
