| 74845 | 2002-08-29 09:55:00 | I recently installed Java Runtime Environment 2 from sun to run some java based applications. However, now whenever a jav applet is displayed in a webpage, a java console icon appears in the taskbar, and menus flicker (eg IE menus and the start menu) when accessed. The problem disappears when I uninstall Java RE. Is there anyway I can stop the java consloe from running, and just use whatever java IE used before I installed JRE2? Cheers as it is getting really annoying. Changing my screen settings doesn't help. G P |

You can remove the annoying icon under the control panel applet for Java, and the screen flicker can be removed by disabling the Java plug-in, but not the JVM either by changing the Java control panel settings, or disabling it under Tools>Internet Options>Advanced in IE. Thanks Anyway G P |
