| 75453 | 2002-09-01 04:59:00 | Hi all, just a simple thing, i deceided to download the trial Nero 5.5.9.0 a month back and liked it, so when it was a day off expiry(lastnight) i deceided to get it online and got the key for registration. That seemed to work o.k - but i noticed it has changed the whole layout now, i haven't got the actions bar at the top any more(File,edit,etc...) and that was what i used to change my settings, like the burn speed,also the wizard has gone!! Is this normal or have i missed something? I don't use it alot but had learnt to use it that way. When it opens it is Nero express - i can't remember if it was express that it used to open in or not? Am pretty sure it wasn't!! Also there is not anything under users guide in - Start - Programs - Ahead Nero - users guide, it just says empty? When looking for help and imfo on this it said that there was a new version - 5.5.9.9 so i upgraded to that but still no difference in layout but it does say it has upgraded. Basically i just wanted to know if this is normal that i would loose that action bar setup? and how do i get the users guide help that is missing - cause i couldn't seem to find it anywhere at the site? From looking at the site it looks like the setup i had before was just Nero Burning Rom - and now i have Nero Express!! Any help would be appreciated - I have read about how people can switch between these too in this forum but there is only Nero Express in the program menu?? | J ZEP (336) | ||

| 75456 | 2002-09-01 05:44:00 | Thanks BL - But tried that amongst other things, all that happens when i hit that is it opens up a dialogue box with "Nero 5 burning rom" and the link to like download it??? It is just so weird - maybe i need to download it AGAIN - but i can't understand why if i had it before i put the key in - where did it go?? I wonder if there is a different key for each one or something, but i got the key for the one i had (Nero Burning Rom-it still says that on my desktop)? Maybe you need another key for Nero 5 - and i somehow was given the Nero Express key?? | J ZEP (336) | ||

No it is not usual for your programme to open in Nero Express and the fact that the Nero Burning Rom is missing from your Start Programmes is a little suspicious to me. 2. If you did try switching to the Nero Burning Rom from Nero Express and it didn't open confirms my suspicion that you haven't got it properly downloaded. 3. The User guide is also empty on my Start programmes but as I have a CD and it is on there and can be accessed directly from the CD 4. Check the help pages www.nero.com Thes pages are also downloadable. 5. I wonder at the solution being possibly to remove what you have and download from scratch and try entering your registration number ? I wonder what others feel? Smurf |

| 75458 | 2002-09-01 06:01:00 | It sounds like you have obtained a 'lite' registration key. If you paid for a full version, then you should not see "Express" anywhere. Alternatively, you may have been mislead into buying a lite reg. You did pay didn't you? I hope you didn't get the key from a nefarious website like <CENSORED> did you? Cos you might have got the wrong one. Mind you, it is a reason why cracking is alive, not that I support it, thought it does come in handy for genuine reasons... |

| 75459 | 2002-09-01 06:06:00 | first thing i would do is to update to 5.5.9.9 i think there was a bug with one of the early versions that caused it to revert back to nero express without having theoptoin to revert back to the full nero. a hack came out to fix that but the later versions have it all built in. there has been a few bug fixes since then. should be a link in the news for the new version. |

Thinking i stuffed something up! Surely there is no way i can get an unlegitimate key through the programs rego??? Downloaded (the trial version) from the nero site that i have been at for a good part of the day! I downloaded the trial from Nero so it has to be their key! | J ZEP (336) | ||
| 75461 | 2002-09-01 07:10:00 | Nero WILL OPEN in Express. If you want the older look, just click on "Nero" on the bottom bar of Express. Or Prog files - ahead - Click on Nero - not express. Bye |

| 75462 | 2002-09-01 07:29:00 | In my version when I bought it, you can just select Nero Burning ROM from the start menu folder. That was with 5.5.9.0 I got my parents to use their credit card but, so I assume my dad got it from the site! I've never come across that before though, I'll keep watching this with interest coz I'm a keen Nero supporter! Chilling_Silence |
