75156 2002-08-30 23:34:00 I am looking to upgrade my Pentium 3 to an AMD-XP chip for which I will need a new motherboard.
I have found several motherboards that look pretty good but they only say they support newer RAM chips than what I currently have (DDR333 (PC2700) / DDR266 (PC2100) / DDR200 (PC1600) -184pin)
I have 640Mb of PC133 SDRAM and I am not sure whether the new motherboard would support it.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
Should the new motherboard be backwards compatible with the older RAM or is it physically a different size?

75157 2002-08-31 00:19:00 there are very few motherboards that will take pc133 sdram and DDR.

with the speeds athoXP's run at useing pc133 (your old ram) will slow it down.

seeing as you most likly will have to get new psu and case why not sell your old pc complete and get a whole new one?
