1311868 2012-11-11 04:07:00 My XP + sp3 desktop keeps re-booting every 15-mins while the broadband connection is ON.

If I disable the connection the computer keeps running. Nothing has been set to shut down or hibernate.

Can someone please help me?

TIA, PeterE.

1311869 2012-11-11 04:12:00 Have you scanned it for malware? Disable auto-restart. Press the windows key+pause. Click on advanced system settings / startup and recovery/ settings. Untick automatically restart. If it does it again, tell us if it's crashing. And what the blue screen says

Or install then run teamviewer. (http://www.teamviewer.com)Send the ID and password it gives you to me in a PM, and I could check it out from here <- Or boot into safe mode / networking, we'll see if it reboots then

1311870 2012-11-11 04:33:00 I agree, sounds like a virus if it only does it when the internet connection is on.

Does it reboot instantly or does it do the whole 'Windows is shutting down' thing etc?

1311871 2012-11-12 23:00:00 Thanks for your help.
The Blue Screen suggested there was a problem with a recent hardware or software install so I did an un-install then installed the sofware again. So far no problems, touch wood!
Thank you.

1311872 2012-11-12 23:02:00 Hmm ok, what was the program or hardware you uninstalled then reinstalled? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1311873 2012-11-14 03:14:00 Norton 360. I had downloaded an 'update' to a 'later version' from Norton before things started to go wrong.
Did a full uninstall then installed once more. Not tried to run LiveUpdate yet.

1311876 2012-11-14 05:21:00 lol. Well, lets put it this way, its as bad as bitdefender, Mcafee, Anything with Norton or Symantec on it. Zonealarm, and Kaspersky (The only thing worth using with Kaspersky on it is tdsskiller) Speedy Gonzales (78)
