2012-11-12 04:11:00 | Hi peoples . I have a 1TB HP Simple Save portable HDD . I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit . When I try to access certain folders on my portable HDD it stops responding and I have to close explorer . Or it stops responding for about 5 seconds then I can get into the folder . Even if I right click on a folder this will also happen . I have defraged it twice . With both Defragler and IObit Smart Defrag 2 . It didn't help . Never used to have these problems . If any of you people have a fix or a suggestion it would be highly appreciated . Thanks guys .

2012-11-12 06:07:00 | Is there anything in common with the folders that won't work? What do they contain, for example? | linw (53) | |
2012-11-12 06:42:00 | Try doing a chkdsk on it, sounds like it may have bad sectors/corrupted data on it. (Good chance of this with portable drives).

2012-11-14 03:31:00 | Rear. Wouldn't use the front as they are slower. And it's not in a USB hub.

2012-11-14 04:14:00 | Wonder if this has anything to do with it?? (www.tomshardware.com). The power settings for hard drives under power options? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-11-20 03:42:00 | Thanks Guys for the help. I right clicked on my HDD went to Properties>Tools>Disk Check. Then ticked all the boxes and did the check and fixed the errors! Works like it should now.
