75802 2002-09-02 09:46:00 Hi people. My wife has kindly let me get a new computer but I have a few problems with what I want it to do.I have an ISA 56K modem(the best next to an external),and I use it as a fax,as it will recognise faxability, where a PCI one won't.My question is,are there any new motherboards that still support ISA slots,as I still need my fax facility, and don't want to go and buy a proper fax.Any suggestions gratefully recieved. Thanks

Peter

75804 2002-09-02 10:08:00 Not many m/b will have an ISA slot now, but the ABIT KT7A, though not the latest is quite good. (It has to be good, as it's what I have :) ). It has 1 AGP, 6 PCI, and 1 ISA slot. Its socket 7 and takes Athlon/Duron.
I see that it is still available from www.uptech.co.nz

75806 2002-09-04 22:30:00 I have a PCI modem card and my machine is quite old yet i have always been able to send and receive faxes.
I am under the impression that all modern modems being PCI are fax compatible at the very least!!

75807 2002-09-04 22:47:00 The PCI Modems are fax compatable, but not able to recognise the cadence ring of Faxability godfather (25)
75808 2002-09-04 23:06:00 Srry! Do you mean it won't recognize a fax call and start your fax program automatically? craigrob (1722)
