| 75695 | 2002-09-02 06:34:00 | Okay today I had yet another go at installing and running Linux. It all installed fine (eventually) and after a bit of fiddling (as I have to do - something to do with my hardware) it runs fine. Except for the dual screen setup. At first it ran on the two screens, but with my secondary monitor as default and my primary as the secondary monitor, and they were the wrong way round (it thought the monitor on the right was actually on the left etc.)... So after a bit of fiddling with the settings I managed to get the primary screen working as primary, but now nothing at all shows up on the secondary screen - it's just blank (but still on, not in standby). it seems that in the Control Centre it only allows me to change settings for one video card, not both of them... running Mandrake 8.1 using KDE... any more info needed? What I would *like* is for both screens to be usable, either as one big desktop as in Windows, or as two desktops viewable at the same time - I know both of these *should* be able to be done, I just don't know how. Mike. PS Can Linux read NTFS drives? I need to download a modem driver to make my modem work (hopefully) under Linux, but I can't seem to get access to my Win XP drives which are both NTFS. When they were FAT32 I could copy files off it fine. |
