| 75698 | 2002-09-02 05:58:00 | hello, thank you for looking. i have a question in reference to compatibility of cable modems between new zealand made versions & american made versions. a family member was buying me a cable modem in auckland, but then she thought it was safer to contact me about compatibility issues instead of just suprising me. i have searched the web to no avail & i hope that someone here would be able to help me. if there is compatibility, great. if not, she would have to purchase a north american version, in nz! bugga! 1. is there compatibility? 2. if not, do you know where she can purchase an american version in nz dollars? thank you & best regards! eddie |

| 75699 | 2002-09-02 06:08:00 | There are at least 3 standards for cable, and it would depend which was compatable with your intended use. You would need the modem compatability list from your service provider as the defining method. | godfather (25) | ||
| 75700 | 2002-09-02 06:36:00 | i have to ask... Why? There is to my knowledge only one cable provider in this country, and they give you a cable modem as part of the set up....... Unless your trying to hack in and get a free connection perhaps????? |

| 75704 | 2002-09-03 08:53:00 | hello again, thats part of my problem. she tried to purchase a dsl modem online, a north american one...but they didnt accept her major credit card cause the billing address was at home in auckland. i took up the cause because it was a nice gesture & i ran into the same problem with about 10 other american online hardware sellers. im thinking maybe a direct purchase from a japanese company i.e. toshiba, mitsubishi, who sell to the american market. but today was holiday so i have to wait until tomorrow! bugga x 2! eddie | kataboom (1717) | ||
