| 75547 | 2002-09-01 11:24:00 | i have been using tweak ui for, like forever, and like last month i was mucking around with t, went to the repair tab, and ran the repair icons thingy. now all the icons get messed up, and i need to run once or twice a week to re-adjust them. i had no probs with icons displaying incorrectly, but now, they always do. now im a visual kind of guy, so it hurts my eyes when the icons are different. what can i do?, any ideas? grtz sal. tga |

| 75550 | 2002-09-01 21:24:00 | Hi sal, have a look at this thread, and try this: pressf1.co.nz This is where you can alter the icon cache size from the registry as per: "Hi Billy, that problem happened to me as the number of icons kept increasing, and I had multiple nested folders/icons within icons. I found that the icon cache size was too small to hold them all. If you go into the registry and find your way to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr ent version\explorer Highlight this key, and in the right pane there should be a string, MaxCachedicons, if the value is 512, change it to something like 2048. If that string isnt there, put one in by right clicking the right pane and choose New, String Value. You will then find the icons pop straight up when you re-boot." End of quote. This trick is useful for when the icons take forever and a day to come up on your desk top. If the cache is too small, then they have to be found individually from the programs. |
