75829 2005-01-10 08:35:00 It really pays to shop around.

.

Only sometimes do any of you realise that most appliance retaile have a price guarantee? so if after you have bought it (14 days for most) you find the same product advertised cheaper they will refund the difference. the time energy and strees that people put into shopping around in alot of cases is not worth it. I work for an appliance company in auckland the number of weekends I have seen people waste an entire day looking around for cordless phones, cell phones, discmans, vacuum's and dvd's etc uterly ustounds me more than half the time all they save is $20 and they have driven to 6 different shops if not more given them selves a head trying to remember who had what price and wot color. Then they go and embaras themselves by begging for a discount as if they can't afford it, news flash this is not taiwan society does not run here on a bartering system there is actually legislation to make sure you dont get ripped off. We are running a 20% off selected items SALE at the moment and to be able to do it we had to go back to the suppliers and negotiate special prices on the products so that we could even do the sale with out making a loss. I don't think people realise just how frustrating it is for a sales person who is paid on commision (and we all are, on profit too not total sales) to be asked "How much for cash? when it is already marked down by 20%. CASH? how else are you gonna pay, RICE? This might be an illusion but it is not better to by things on interest free no finance company lends money for free there are documentation fees and insurance. If your not the one paying those extra charges the retailer is, interest free is only interest free to you the retailer ends up paying it instead.

Thank you
Have a nice day :)

75830 2005-01-10 08:37:00 Don't forget the TAX factor. US prices exclude any state sales tax, which you only pay if you buy within the same state. In NZ prices (usually) include GST and it is pretty difficult to avoid paying. tutaenui (1724)
75831 2005-01-10 08:52:00 I moved to Christchurch from the states over a year ago and found the prices here on computer hardware much more expensive . Is this just a SI phenomenon, or is it the case New Zealand wide? For example, a 16X DVD-ROM goes for US$34 on www . pricewatch . com . Does anyone know where I could buy one for the equivalent in kiwi dollars (NZ$65)?

Thanks!
are you talking about a 16x dvd rom or a dvd writer ? Because pricespy lists over 60 hits of 16x dvd roms at 65 bucks or less with the cheapest at 40 bucks

75834 2005-01-10 14:46:00 There seems to be a possible bug, possibly causing some of these old thread resurections .

More than once I have found myself looking at threads years old when I wanted to move to another thread on PG1???????? .

As yet I havent been caught by it .

Only since the change to this flashy thing

STILL WITH NO SPELL CHECK!!!!!!
