76122 2002-09-03 10:21:00 I've started getting more than my usual share of "illegal operation" notices concerning a system file "Tapiexe" which is consistently causing an invalid page fault involving another system module file. The OS is win95B. Any remedy please?? ,edm@clear.net.nz
It has started to happen often when watching Tv using my tv tuner card .
I have 32Mb ram

76123 2002-09-04 03:37:00 Hmmm .... tapiexe is what windows uses to interact with phones and stuff (notice the very technical explanation :) ).

I'm rather surprised that an error would be initiated through watching tv on your pc, unless something is trying to get your modem to dial out and the tv card is sharing the modem's resources.

You can verify this by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager tab. I'm hoping that your modem or tv tuner card (probably listed in the "Sound, video, gaming" tree) has a yellow exclamation by it.

If so, (or even if not), double click the tv tuner card, then go to the Resources tab. Check to see if any conflicting devices are listed at the bottom of this tab.

It may pay to change the settings used by the tv tuner. Remove the tick beside "Use automatic settings", then use the drop-down box to change the configuration (0000, 0001, etc). Choose one which has no conflicts (it will say so at the bottom of the tab). Click OK all the way back out.

If you are still getting errors, post back with the full error and the tv tuner card model and your modem model.

Some TV cards are quite resource hungry, I am surprised it goes with the specs.
