| 76089 | 2002-09-03 08:57:00 | I have been running XP professional and Ihug Ultra for some time with good results. The one issues I have had is during heavy downloads with fast download rates the satellite card locks up and you need a complete reboot to make things go again. I tried all of ihugs advice with little success. Recently I added a soundblaster audigy card to my system which agrivated the problem. I could download for 20-30 seconds then the card froze. On closer inspection XP was assigning the sound , network, satellite, modem, video, and firewire all to the same IRQ. this was the problem. I tried pulling the cards out and reinstalling them but they all went to the same IRQ number again. I have turned off the advanced power management which scrambles up the IRQ's and my system is going again. the only problem now is I have to manually turn the PC off which is a pain. How do you change the IRQ of a devise? In Win 9x you can do it in resource manager but in XP/2000 the option is shown but is grayed out. |
