| 75976 | 2002-09-03 00:35:00 | I have a 30gb hard drive, partitioned C: (8gb) and D: (22gb) both are FAT32 but seem to have different cluster sizes. C: drive is 4kb and D: is 16kb. Does anyone know if there is a reason for this. I would have thought that they would have identical cluster sizes. |

| 75977 | 2002-09-03 02:08:00 | The smaller the cluster size the better. Unfortunately there is a limit to the number of clusters that windows can handle in FAT format. If it was to allocate the smaller clusters to the larger drive, that number would be exceeded, so it has used the next size up.... |
