| 76362 | 2002-09-04 06:03:00 | After a bit of research into the pitfalls of doing such things, I flashed my new 4kus drive (40x12x48x) with the latest lite-on firmware for a LTR48125W (48x12x48x). I was able to burn a warehouse $1 disc at 48x in 2:20 for 550Mb including lead-in/lead-out. Average burn speed was 37.?? - which is very high. Zero errors in the files, and 99.86%OK for a surface scan (the very last cluster had an unreadable portion which did not affect the discs operation - only 0.14% of the disc). This is extremely good value as the drive only cost $177 inc p&p. If anyone is looking for a new drive - this would be an extremely good option even if you don't plan to overclock it. Any questions?
